Expressions, Idioms, Proverbs and Sayings and their meaning in different languages

Whether you are a Nature or a Language lover, speak one or the other five Languages below, I hope you will find some enjoyable way to spend your reading time knowing more about the origin of my raw material … For navigating outside the MainstreamFor seeing Nature Differently

As a matter of fact, we often use idioms, proverbs and expressions when speaking. Furthermore, we have some favourite ones and deliberately choose an image rather than another within the same category of meanings to illustrate our speech with Colours, Light or Shade, Matter and Scent. It was all along my stayings in China, in Peru, in North America, that I met wonderful people who share similar interests. We enjoyed figuring out the corresponding expressions in the other language and we always had a lot of fun with the findings. We eventually became good friends. And unsurprisingly from my part, our comparisons ended up becoming into so many notes that I decided to systematically arrange into a readable way. Persistently bringing them from jumbled to structured. For this particular purpose, I deliberately use literal translations of each idiom and saying to reveal that the five Languages, at least in my chosen field, wonderfully share the same Images, the same References and similar Meanings most of the time.

Such a bridge-building web. Such an amazing pattern.

BlueLiana is my way to warmly thank my friends 菲,风芝,娇,潇涵, 粹,薇, 蔚, Ana, Charo, Claudia, Henriette and June for those wonderful moments; thanks also go to Casey and Jean-Pierre for their time and meaningful feedbacks and thanks to Graziella who helped me translate Malagasy sayings into English. Special thanks go to my beloved Carine, Sébastien and Philippe for their encouraging critics and support all along my journey. This website is just a sample of the whole material which is about four hundred pages I have worked on for many years. And thank you for reading and hopefully for sending your comments to me : I am looking forward to planting new Seeds and weaving Threads of Curiosities along this journey.

Meanwhile, navigate against the Grain and just have Fun !
